PICK.IT

Privacy & data

Only the data needed to verify PICK and DROP, record optional SPOT litter signals, keep your points, and show relevant local functions is used.

Camera

The camera is used for PICK and DROP proof and, if you choose SPOT, for a one-photo litter report. PICK.IT keeps a proof fingerprint and verification/classification signals rather than the raw camera image. If live image verification or SPOT classification is enabled by the operator, an image may be sent to the configured verification provider for that check; the app does not retain the raw SPOT photo in its impact state.

Location

GPS is used with proof to verify place and movement, locally to find Rewarders near you, and to geotag SPOT reports. The Impact Desk heatmap shows only aggregated hotspot coordinates at reduced precision; it does not show collector identities or proof photos. The collector bin map is limited to the local area around the device when opened.

Maps

Map views use standard OpenStreetMap raster tiles only as the neutral geographic background. PICK.IT draws its own bin and SPOT overlays separately. When a map is opened, only the raster tile coordinates needed for the visible map area are requested, but PICK.IT does not send collector IDs, proof photos, PICK/DROP records, wallet data, or SPOT report details to OpenStreetMap.

Your device

PICK.IT creates a pseudonymous collector ID so points can be assigned to this device. The name you enter is stored only on this device and is not sent with normal PICK.IT requests.

Permissions

You can change camera and location permissions in your phone or browser settings. Without them, PICK and DROP verification cannot work as intended, and SPOT cannot create a geotagged litter signal.
